What are you doing for Earth hour this saturday night? How about coming out to our concert? We will serenade you by candlelight!
The show will feature a cappella works by Mendelssohn, Busto, Gibbons, Byrd and Schutz along with BWV 131 Aus Der Tiefe by J.S. Bach, with two soloists: Marcel D’Entremont and Giovanni Spanu, along with instrumental ensemble: Elena Spanu, Fanny Tang, Anne Prevost, Victoria Hong, Sarah Steeves and Karen Kiribi.
The opening of the show will include Cheryll’s Conductor’s notes on the Bach cantata and some musical examples to follow.
You will also have a chance to bid on some great auction items during intermission, such as a guitar lesson by classical guitarist Drew Henderson (see his bio here: http://www.torontoschoolforstrings.com/faculty/drew-henderson/), two photography sessions by Richard J. Chung, a gift basket or two, hand crafted artisan granola, a special treat from Sew Lah Tea Dough (see her creations here: http://sewlahteadough.blogspot.ca) and a conducting or piano lesson by our very own Artistic Director.
