Concert 1 – In Paradisum –November 9th 7:30 pm, St Patrick’s Catholic Church, 131 McCaul St
This is a joint concert with St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and the Candlelight Liturgy Singers featuring the Requiem by Gabriel Fauré, which was dedicated to his father, who died in 1885, and was later performed at Fauré’s own funeral in 1924. Of all seven sections, the Pie Jesu, Agnus Dei, and In Paradisum emerge as the most glorious, filled with rich, soulful melodies. The work garnered the praise of many other composers, such as Camille Saint-Saëns, who thought it was divine. You will hear three ensembles perform separately in the first half and then jointly for the second half for the Requiem. A portion of the proceeds will go towards ASHADEEP orphanage in India.
Organist: Conrad Gold, Violinist: Natalie Wong
New works by: Imogen Hall, Kelly- Marie Murphy
