November 18th, 2017: Music of the People

This first concert features works from 20th and 21st century British composers such as Holst, Parry, and Stanford, mixed with music by contemporary living female composers such as Toronto locals: Laura Sgroi and Stephanie Martin. The theme of the concert is the joy of singing. Specifically, choral singing and how vocal music truly touches everyone of all ages. Singing is the most natural form of music making from birth, and singing in a choir is one of Canada’s most popular activities! There will be 6 newly written compositions for us to premiere, and we are also singing in Finnish, Icelandic and Estonian.

We are very happy to continue our relationship with Laura Sgroi as composer in residence this year. There are many exciting things to follow!

Here is an article about how choral singing can boost your mental health http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/health/news/10496056/Choir-singing-boosts-your-mental-health.html

The concert starts at 7:30 pm at Church of the Redeemer.

Tickets: $25 Adults/ $20 Students
